Job description
Overview

Band 6 Specialised Occupational Therapist working within the Vascular and Surgery Team. Main caseload is the Vascular cohort on Chesleden Ward. This involves the assessment and treatment and early rehabilitation of predominantly lower limb amputees. The post sits on the General Occupational Therapy rotation: the post-holder leads the assessment and treatment for a range of patients admitted under STAR, MAU, Cardiac & Renal, Haem-Oncology, Hand Therapy, Amputee Rehab, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Ortho-Geriatrics, Vascular & Surgery.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure standards of excellent clinical practice are upheld and undertake responsibility to ensure adequate training has been completed by all members of the team.
  • Be responsible for the delegation of duties to the Therapy Technician and junior Therapists. Deliver training to ensure team members are adequately equipped to carry out assigned tasks.
  • Attend and chair meetings relevant to the patient care and discharge planning for patients admitted under Vascular and Surgery.
  • Support a strong work ethic to progress the service within current restraints.
  • Contribute to the team’s goal of providing excellent care for all Vascular & Surgery patients.
  • Foster an open and caring team atmosphere with supportive management structures.
  • Support development of clinical skills through training and development opportunities at St George’s and with the Amputee Rehab Centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital.
