Specialist Nurse - Respiratory, Maternity Cover

A fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing GP surgery, looking to welcome a new Respiratory Nurse to the team.

As a member of the Watling Street Practice nursing team, you will be working from our surgery in Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes.

In addition to respiratory duties, experience in managing chronic illnesses is essential for this role.

This is a fixed-term vacancy to provide maternity cover, expected to end in August 2026.

Hours, Salary, and Benefits

  • £23 per hour
  • A minimum of 25 days annual leave (pro-rated), plus bank holidays, increasing to 33 days with length of service

Shift Pattern: 12.5 - 20 hours per weekFlexible working and compressed hours are encouraged and can be discussed

You will be given a set shift pattern, starting from 8 am on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with flexibility to discuss other hours or days.

Job responsibilities
  • Assist in and perform routine patient care tasks as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
  • Conduct asthma/peak flow readings, FENO, spirometry, COPD assessments
  • Request pathology tests, such as urine cultures and blood tests
  • Refer patients to local services as appropriate
  • Follow clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as necessary
