Job description

Specialist Grade Doctor in Addictions Psychiatry

Join to apply for the Specialist Grade Doctor in Addictions Psychiatry role at NHS Scotland.

This position is based at NHS Ayrshire and Arran, with an office at Lister Street, Crosshouse Hospital, and clinical duties at other Addictions bases in East Ayrshire.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Community assessment and treatment of patients supported by the East Ayrshire Rapid Access to Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service.
  2. Providing specialist input for ten Pan-Ayrshire elective admissions beds within the Addictions Inpatient Unit at Woodland View Hospital, Ayrshire Central, focusing on detoxification and co-morbid mental health and substance rehabilitation.

You will work alongside five existing consultants within a well-developed multidisciplinary and multi-agency service, offering comprehensive addiction services. The department offers active academic programs accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, with opportunities for research and special interests. Support for SAS doctors includes access to educational advisors and development funds.

Minimum requirements:
  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice.
  • At least 10 years of medical work since primary qualification, with a minimum of six years in relevant psychiatry specialties or equivalent overseas experience.
Terms and Conditions:

Based on the Specialist Contract 2022 (Scotland), with an 8 Programmed Activity week, flexible working options, and potential for additional activities. Negotiable base locations within NHS Ayrshire and Arran are available.
