Specialist Grade Doctor in Addictions Psychiatry

Join us for the Specialist Grade Doctor in Addictions Psychiatry role at NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Grade Doctor in Addictions Psychiatry within NHS Ayrshire and Arran. The position is based at Lister Street, Crosshouse Hospital, with clinical work at other Addictions bases in East Ayrshire.

Responsibilities

• Community assessment and treatment of patients supported by the East Ayrshire Rapid Access to Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service.
• Provide specialist input for the ten Pan-Ayrshire elective admissions beds within the Addictions Inpatient Unit at Ward 5, Woodland View Hospital, Ayrshire Central site, focusing on detoxification and co-morbid mental health and substance rehabilitation.

You will join five existing consultants and work within well-developed multidisciplinary and multi-agency services providing comprehensive addiction care. There are opportunities for research, academic linkage, and development of special interests, supported by the Royal College of Psychiatrists accreditation and local SAS development programs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Full GMC Registration (with Licence to Practice).
• Minimum of 10 years medical work since primary qualification, with at least six years in a relevant psychiatry specialty.
• Relevant overseas experience accepted.

Terms and Conditions

Service terms are based on the Specialist Contract 2022 (Scotland), offered on an 8 Programmed Activity basis, with options for additional activities and flexible working arrangements, including less than 0.8 WTE and different base locations within NHS Ayrshire and Arran's Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service.
