Specialist Community Public Health Nurse-School Nursing

Exciting opportunities have arisen to join our Leicester City Healthy Together School Nursing Team as a Band 6 Specialist Community Public Health Nurse working with children and young people aged 5-19 within our 0-19 service.

We are seeking to employ the very best talent to help us deliver the Healthy Child Programme and our ambitious vision. We would love to meet you if you are an enthusiastic and self-motivated Public Health Nurse.

School nursing offers a range of services to meet the varying needs of the local population, which includes our well-developed digital offer.

You must have a NMC registration in any branch of nursing and a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) School Nursing registration.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a warm, respectful, caring, and compassionate approach to delivering a flexible and responsive service for our diverse and continually evolving health needs of our population.

Main duties of the job
  • To contribute to care, quality, performance and clinical activity by providing professional nursing leadership and guidance, clinical advice and management in relation to the key dimensions of health care quality.
  • To holistically assess the health and social needs of individuals, groups, and communities in detail, to determine an appropriate plan of care and evaluate outcomes of health-based interventions.
  • Recognise indicators of abuse in children and vulnerable adults and initiate safeguarding measures in accordance with recognised policies and procedures of the Trust and Leicestershire and Rutland safeguarding children partnership.
  • To search for and identify evolving health needs and situations hazardous to health at both individual and community level and to act as a resource to promote positive health and wellbeing.
  • To demonstrate the ability to transfer previous professional knowledge and skills of Public Health Nursing; developing the ability to work effectively with sound judgement when dealing with complex emotional situations, family dynamics and difficult environments.
  • Have the ability to prioritise workload and demonstrate flexibility in response to urgent needs and organising day to day work at an individual and team level.
