We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Clinical Pharmacist to join our Cancer team.
This post offers a fantastic opportunity to experience various aspects of Cancer Services, including working in either oncology or haematology clinics and contributing to multi-disciplinary ward rounds for both haematology and solid tumour oncology patients.
You will be uniquely positioned to provide excellent patient care to oncology and haematology patients. This position is fully supported and trained by our friendly and dedicated team, allowing you to develop both personally and professionally.
Role Responsibilities
- Be a specialist in adult haematology and solid tumour oncology, professionally and managerially responsible for pharmaceutical care in Cancer Services at NUH.
- Conduct clinical screening of inpatient and outpatient Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT).
- Provide clinical ward cover for inpatient haematology and oncology wards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to make decisions about patient care.
- Collaborate with the Aseptic Unit to ensure the safe and effective provision of medicines.
- Contribute to clinical audits, research trials, and service evaluations.
- Support, educate, and train pharmacy staff and healthcare professionals.
- Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services in Haematology & Oncology, working with Advanced Pharmacy Practitioners.
- Attend ward rounds and MDT meetings, contributing to decision-making for cancer patients.
- Manage and screen chemotherapy for inpatients and outpatients.
- Monitor clinical pharmacy services to ensure safety, effectiveness, and cost-efficiency.
- Benchmark service quality against other Trusts.
- Network and liaise with other cancer services pharmacists within the network.
- Ensure delivery of the pharmacy clinical governance agenda in Cancer Services.
- Line manage or tutor junior pharmacists, rotational pharmacists, and trainees.
- Support and implement plans, guidelines, procedures, policies, and service changes.
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining good rapport with colleagues.
- Ensure safe, efficient working conditions and support staff wellbeing.
- Lead service development projects to enhance care quality.
- Participate in specialised clinical pharmacy duties and provide patient-facing clinical services.
- Support the development of advanced clinical practice and contribute to improved outcomes.
- Support the 7-day shift rota and bank holiday duties.
