Job Overview

We invite applications for the position of Specialist Clinical Pharmacist (SCP) in Cardiac Services, based at the City campus. The Cardiac Services team includes cardiology, cardiac surgery, ICU, HDU, theatres, and cath labs.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills in patient management within a multidisciplinary team, and to enhance leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and improve clinical pharmacy services for cardiology and cardiac surgery.
  • Provide complex pharmaceutical care, optimize medicines, and utilize prescribing skills.
  • Support governance, education, and medication safety within cardiac services.
  • Line manage and mentor band 7 pharmacists and junior pharmacists, supporting their training and development, including independent prescribing.

Essential Duties
  • Lead specific aspects of the clinical pharmacy service for the specialty.
  • Participate in consultant-led ward rounds to promote medicines optimization and discharge planning.
  • Deliver advanced clinical pharmacy services.
  • Contribute to education and training of healthcare professionals, including pharmacists, students, and nurse practitioners.
