As a Biomedical Scientist, the post holder will be responsible for the delegated tasks required for delivering a clinical technical service that aims to achieve efficient and effective patient care. They will work as part of a team on a rotational basis across all diagnostic sections of the laboratory, performing work to the required standards.
Diagnostic work includes examination of cerebrospinal fluid, peritoneal dialysis fluid, urine, feces, sputum, blood/serum, pus, and diverse secretions. Investigations include serological assays for HIV and Hepatitis B, identification of micro-organisms, lice, fleas, and films for intestinal parasites.
Evidence of successful completion of the IBMS Specialist Portfolio may lead to an offer of a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, Band 6, position.
