Job summary

Randstad Student & Worker Support is seeking two experienced SEN Specialist Tutors to work in tandem with a Year 11 pupil who has complex SEMH, PDA, and speech and language needs. Initial learning will occur at home, gradually expanding into community settings as progress is made.

The role requires trauma-informed care, PBS expertise, and the ability to deliver functional KS3/4 English and Maths, with training available for Type 1 Diabetes management.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Deliver personalised English, Maths, and life-skills tuition using low-demand communication approaches.
• Provide co-regulation, emotional support, and PBS.
• Monitor Type 1 Diabetes protocols during home sessions (Medical Lead Tutor).
• Use CENTURY Tech to deliver bite-sized diagnostic modules.
• Support transitions into community settings when milestones allow.

We are seeking two experienced, highly resilient SEN Specialist Tutors to work in tandem supporting a Year 11 male pupil with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) characteristics, and speech, language, and communication needs. Due to severe anxiety and a history of failed school placements, learning will begin in the home environment before gradually extending into the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver personalised functional English, Maths, and life skills tuition using low-demand, indirect communication approaches.
• Provide proactive co‑regulation, emotional regulation support, and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
• Monitor and manage Type 1 Diabetes protocols during home sessions (Medical Lead Tutor).
• Utilise online tools such as CENTURY Tech to deliver bite‑sized, low‑pressure diagnostic and learning modules.
• Gradually support transitions into quiet community settings once medical and emotional milestones are met.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Proven specialist experience working with complex SEMH, trauma‑informed care, and PDA characteristics.
• Strong background in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), de‑escalation, and dynamic risk management.
• Competence in delivering functional Key Stage 3/4 English and Maths.
• Willingness and capacity to undergo Type 1 Diabetes management training (Essential for Diabetes Lead Tutor).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a high‑synchrony two‑tutor partnership
