Job summary

Exclusive Education Ltd. is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a visual impairment school in Wavertree, Liverpool. The role supports pupils from EYFS through KS5, with a focus on accessing the curriculum and personalised learning support.

The position is full-time, requiring collaboration with teachers and therapists to implement IEPs, manage behaviour, and aid communication using PECs or tools. DBS checks and UK eligibility are expected. Start ASAP.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Teaching Assistant qualification, ideally Level 2 or Level 3 (NCFE, CACHE, NVQ 1-3).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Recent experience with children in the last two years.
  • Experience with Autism/SEN is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with Autism and other SEN to access the curriculum.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and professionals to provide personalised learning support.
  • Implement behaviour plans and promote positive behaviour throughout the day.
  • Assist with communication needs using PECs or visual aids.
  • Support social, emotional, and developmental needs per IEPs.

Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant Required

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, 5 days per week

Exclusive Education are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEN from EYFS - Key Stage 5 at a visual impairment school in Wavertree in Liverpool. This is a full time Teaching Assistant position.

Key Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:
  • Support pupils with Autism and other Special Educational Needs to access the curriculum and engage in learning
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies and interventions
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised learning support as a proactive Teaching Assistant
  • Implement behaviour management plans and support positive behaviour throughout the school day
  • Assist pupils' communication needs using tools such as PECs or other visual aids.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and developmental needs in line with individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support ongoing assessment
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment in your role as a Teaching Assistant
Requirements for the Teaching Assistant role:
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification - Ideally a Level 2 or a level 3 (e.g., NCFE, CACHE, NVQ Level 1, 2 or 3) is desirable
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Recent experience working with children within the last two years
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism and special educational needs
  • Excellent understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks
  • Previous experience working across KS3, KS4, and KS5 is advantageous
  • Ability to provide two professional references from recent roles working with children
  • Hold a current DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Training or experience in PECs, TEACCH, or Team Teach is desirable
