Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups to access the curriculum.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports wellbeing.

Job Title: Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Liverpool, Merseyside

We are seeking to appoint a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team.

This well-supported role offers an opportunity to work closely with children with additional needs, providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum and develop socially and emotionally.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of a dedicated team committed to inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting children with additional needs in accordance with their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Implementing agreed strategies and adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Working closely with teaching staff, parents, carers, and professionals to ensure the child's educational, social, and emotional needs are met.
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, managing behaviour and classroom routines effectively.
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes the well-being of all pupils.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • A relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children in a primary school setting, particularly those with special educational needs.
  • Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with a genuine commitment to supporting children's development.
