Job summary

Career Teachers is recruiting for a welcoming SEN school in North Leeds to join as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant for the full academic year, starting September 2026. The role offers a supportive, nurturing environment with opportunities for progression to a permanent contract with the school for the right candidate.

You will support children with SEND, provide one-to-one and small-group assistance, and help develop independence and social skills within a structured educational setting.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND.
  • Patient, resilient, and enthusiastic.
  • Experienced in education, care, youth work, support work, or similar settings (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong communicators with a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Committed to helping every learner reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs.
  • Delivering tailored one-to-one and small-group support.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Promoting student independence, confidence, and social development.
  • Assisting with personalised learning activities and interventions.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.

Career Teachers is excited to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and well-resourced SEN school in North Leeds for a passionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their team this September for the full academic year.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support children and young people with a range of additional needs in a nurturing, inclusive, and highly rewarding educational environment. The role will initially be offered through Career Teachers, with a strong possibility of transitioning to a permanent contract directly with the school for the right candidate.

The Role
  • Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs
