Join Our Team as a SEN Teaching Assistant in Aylesbury

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in Aylesbury. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students aged 11 to 19 with a range of complex learning difficulties.

About The School

Located in Aylesbury, this community special school caters to students with moderate to severe learning difficulties, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), physical disabilities, and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

The school follows a primary model, focusing on individual educational needs and the development of social and personal skills. Students benefit from a curriculum designed to build upon knowledge gained at primary level, with a specific focus on developing skills needed for life after school.

Responsibilities Of a SEN Teaching Assistant

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your duties will include:

• Supporting students to access and engage with teacher-led curriculum and learning activities.
• Assisting with the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans.
• Providing support in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.
• Assisting with personal care, attending to hygiene needs, and administering medication as required.
• Collaborating with teaching and senior class staff to create a supportive learning environment.
• Encouraging independence and promoting self-esteem among students.
