Learning Support Assistant (Secondary) - Aylesbury Vale Academy

Location: Aylesbury

Term time only

Salary Type: Bucks pay

Salary details: Bucks Pay Range 2 Point 11 to Point 15 - (£25,625 to £27,770) - FTE

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 34.75 hours per week, 39 weeks per year - Actual salary will reflect this working pattern

We are seeking a creative, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join the SEND Department in the secondary phase. The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience to support students with various specific needs, including delivering targeted interventions outside the classroom. Candidates should be qualified and experienced in working with children aged 11 to 16 with SEND, and will report to the Assistant Principal/SENDCo.

About you

The successful candidate must have:

  • Experience working in an educational setting, with relevant qualifications in Learning Support preferred.
  • A calm, understanding, and friendly personality.
  • The ability to manage behaviour, help students focus, and encourage interaction and engagement in activities led by teachers.
  • Flexibility and a team-oriented approach, providing classroom support and assisting with behaviour management as needed.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, acting as a positive role model and responding to individual needs.
  • The ability to collaborate with teachers and the SENDCo to support student progress and development.
  • A GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent qualification.
