Job summary

Impact Teachers is seeking a Sixth Form SEN Teacher for an SEN school in the United Kingdom. You will support post-16 students with Autism, sensory needs and complex learning difficulties, delivering engaging lessons and helping students develop academic skills, independence and life skills.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree with QTS/ QTLS or equivalent and have proven experience teaching sixth-form students. The role is long-term with a daily rate of £195–£255.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • British QTS, QTLS, or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven classroom experience or training.
  • Experience teaching sixth-form/post-16 students with Autism and complex learning needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging sixth-form lessons for students with a range of additional needs.
  • Adapt teaching activities to meet students’ EHCP requirements.
  • Support students with sensory challenges and emotional regulation.
  • Foster communication, social interaction, independence, and preparation for adulthood.
  • Support students with accredited learning, vocational programmes and work-related activities.
  • Collaborate with support staff, therapists, families, and external professionals.
  • Help students prepare for next steps including further education, employment, internships, or independent living.

Join Us as a Sixth Form SEN Teacher in an SEN School
We are working with a fantastic SEN school that has partnered with us for many years to support its recruitment. The school is seeking an enthusiastic Sixth Form SEN Teacher to join its post-16 team. It is looking for a strong, qualified teacher with QTS or QTLS and proven experience teaching sixth-form students with Autism, sensory needs, and additional complex learning difficulties. The successful teacher will help students develop academically while building their confidence, independence, employability, and essential life skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons for sixth-form students with a range of additional needs.
  • Adapt teaching and learning activities to meet students’ individual education, health and care plan requirements.
  • Demonstrate patience and the ability to support students with sensory challenges and emotional regulation.
  • Foster effective communication, social interaction, independence, and preparation for adulthood.
  • Support students with accredited learning, vocational programmes, employability skills, and work-related activities where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, families, and external professionals.
  • Help students prepare for their next steps, including further education, employment, supported internships, or independent living.

Qualifications/Experience

  • You must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, as well as a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, to be eligible for this role.
  • Additionally, you will need to have, or be eligible for, British QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), QTLS, or an equivalent qualification to be considered for this job.
  • To be eligible for this position, you will also need proven classroom experience or training.
  • Previous experience teaching sixth-form or post-16 students with Autism and complex learning needs is highly desirable.
