Job summary

Castle Education is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Learning Support Assistant for a York-based primary school. The role focuses on providing 1:1 support, assisting with tailored learning activities, and promoting the child’s wellbeing and progress.

This temporary position offers competitive PAYE pay, development opportunities, safeguarding updates, and access to long-term and permanent roles within local schools.

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or care setting.

Location: York - Role: Special Needs Learning Support Assistant - Pay Rate: £14.24 - £16.00 per hour - Start Date: ASAP - Hours: Part-Time / Full-Time

Castle Education is working with a welcoming primary school on the outskirts of York, who are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Learning Support Assistant on a temporary basis.

You will play an important role in helping the child access learning, build confidence and work towards their individual targets in a supportive school environment.

The Role

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with additional needs.
• Support learning activities tailored to the child’s individual needs and abilities.
• Encourage emotional wellbeing, independence and personal development.
• Help implement behaviour support strategies where required.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
