Job summary

Academics seeks a recent or soon-to-graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or Sociology for a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant role in Worthing, West Sussex. You’ll work closely with teachers and specialists to support learning, behaviour, and emotional development in pupils with SEN/SEMH needs.

Benefits include on-site training, CPD, and a supportive multidisciplinary team. Hours are typically 08:30–15:30, Monday to Friday, term-time only, with daily pay between £93 and £105.

Qualifications

• Degree in Psychology, Criminology, or Sociology is required.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Interest in mental health, behaviour, and child development is important.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN.
• Support emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement.
• Assist with personalised learning and behaviour strategies.
• Observe and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Help maintain a safe, structured and supportive environment.
• Provide personal care where required.
