Job summary

Young Foundations Ltd seeks an enthusiastic and ambitious Teacher to join Howard House School in Bedlington, Northumberland. The role involves delivering an engaging, bespoke curriculum for pupils with SEMH and Autism, under EHCP guidance, at an independent day special school.

Ideal candidates have QTS and experience with vulnerable children, with a strong commitment to safeguarding, professional learning, and contributing to whole-school improvement.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status is required.
  • Evidence of successful teaching with vulnerable children.
  • Good interpersonal skills and emotional resilience.
  • Knowledge of Local Authority and National SEND expectations (2014 Code of Practice).
  • Ability to safeguard children and maintain discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards in relation to the Teachers’ Standards.
  • Be responsible for student attainment and progress.
  • Ensure Quality First Teaching is central to practice and drives progress.
  • Lead a curriculum area to raise school standards.
  • Plan and deliver a bespoke curriculum underpinned by EHCP needs.
  • Deliver a holistic, inclusive curriculum rooted in Positive Regard and pupil outcomes.
  • Contribute to policy and practice; be a role model for the learning community.
  • Make a significant contribution to school improvement.
  • Engage with school systems to uphold the vision for excellence.
  • Develop your CPD profile and strive to be the best.
