Job Title: Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Scunthorpe
Salary: £88.94 - £104.84 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: After May 2025 Half Term
Contract: Full-time

GSL Education are working with a vibrant and inclusive school that prides itself on providing a high standard of education and support for all students, including those with special educational needs. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our team in Scunthorpe and make a positive impact on the learning and development of our pupils.

Role Overview: As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with the class teacher and other members of the support team to assist students with a variety of special educational needs. You will provide tailored support to ensure that each child could reach their full potential in both academic and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Support students in their classroom activities, ensuring they understand tasks and feel engaged in their learning.
  • Assist with the preparation and adaptation of resources to meet the specific needs of the students.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and learning strategies.
  • Promote the social, emotional, and physical well-being of students.
  • Support students during break times and extracurricular activities.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and encourage positive interactions among students.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to regular assessments and reports.

Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and is committed to helping them thrive. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN), is desirable.
  • A strong understanding of SEN, including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, or other developmental needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting students' individual needs.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (desirable, but not essential).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

To work with GSL Education as a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
