SSTL is seeking a skilled Harness Technician to manufacture spacecraft harnesses and test cables for AIT activities. You will implement harness designs during assembly to meet strict electrical, grounding, and environmental standards, while liaising with the systems team to resolve issues.

The role covers on-site production with potential overseas travel and training responsibilities for internal and customer engineers. A background in space hardware and ECSS standards is essential.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in engineering or science, or demonstrable hands-on space industry experience.
• ESA Harness Certification: ECSS-Q-ST-70-26 (Crimping of high reliability electrical connections).
• ECSS-Q-ST-70-18 (Preparation, assembly and mounting of RF coaxial cables).
• EU citizen or Schengen resident with current EU-based security clearance within last 5 years.

Responsabilités

• Manufacture spacecraft harness and test cables per design for AIT.
• Implement harness design during manufacture to meet electrical, grounding, and environmental requirements.
• Liaise with spacecraft systems team to resolve issues and anomalies.
• Provide progress reporting and support harness routing discussions.
• Manufacture spacecraft test cables and support EVT; travel overseas if required.
• Support training programmes for internal and customer engineers.
