Job summary

MDA Space is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Manchester/Stevenage/Harwell offices to design and develop on-board and ground test software for payloads.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust software for space missions, applying C/C++ on Linux and adhering to ECSS, MISRA/C standards and rigorous documentation practices.

As part of a global team of space experts, you’ll contribute to international projects and maintain clear APIs and test suites for reliability.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to derive software designs from requirements.
• Ability to produce Requirements, Architecture, Design and Test documentation
• Experience in developing C/C++ for systems using the Linux operating system
• Experience of formal development, test, integration and documentation processes and associated industry tool sets, e.g., Git, Jenkins.
• Experience in, or knowledge of ECSS Software development process or similar
• Software Development standards such as MISRA or CERT C
• Computer networking and protocols
• Architecture and Design Patterns
• Embedded Software Development
• CCSDS Protocols

Responsibilities

• Design and develop on-board software and ground test software for payloads.
• Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and improve solutions.
• Develop test cases and robust solutions to address issues.
• Estimate resources for end-to-end software delivery to internal and external customers.
• Document APIs and code and communicate with validation teams.
• Travel to partner locations as needed to support project objectives.
