Job summary

MDA Space in the UK is recruiting a Software Engineer to help design and develop on-board and ground test software for space payloads. The role sits across Manchester, Stevenage and Harwell, with opportunities to collaborate with international teams on advanced space sensors and communications tech.

You will contribute to end-to-end software development, require strong C/C++ skills on Linux, and engage in documentation, testing and integration activities. A hybrid work model is offered.

Qualifications

• Derive software designs from requirements
• Produce architecture, design and test documentation
• Experience developing C/C++ for Linux systems
• Familiar with formal development, test, integration and documentation processes and tools (Git, Jenkins)

Responsibilities

• Design and develop on-board software and ground test software for payloads
• Collaborate proactively with team members
• Identify root causes and develop robust solutions and test cases
• Estimate resources for end-to-end software delivery
• Document APIs and code for knowledge sharing
• Willingness to travel to other MDA/partner locations as needed
