Job summary

Expleo is seeking an experienced Metallurgist for an onsite opportunity in Portsmouth, UK. The role ensures that materials and processes for satellite hardware meet regulatory and international quality standards to support safe operation and certification.

The successful candidate will review materials, manage qualification programs and collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Quality to drive quality and on-time delivery for high-reliability aerospace programmes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in materials science or related field.
• HNC/HND acceptable with significant subject matter expertise.
• Experience in aerospace or high-reliability industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Approve materials and processes for waveguide hardware per MPCB requirements.
• Review supplier materials and manufacturing processes against M&P requirements.
• Manage material qualifications via RFA and MPCB processes.
• Generate and review Qualification Test Plans and Reports.
• Conduct inspections of waveguide hardware during manufacturing.
• Investigate and disposition non-conformances with corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Waveguide Engineering, Technical Authorities, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Quality.
• Manage obsolescence and qualify alternatives as needed.
• Provide metallurgical expertise across Portsmouth and Stevenage sites.
• Present technical recommendations and assessments to stakeholders.
• Deliver activities in line with quality, cost and schedule commitments.
