Job summary

NHS Supply Chain in Wakefield is seeking a SP Controller to manage supplier relationships and ensure uninterrupted supply across the NHS. You will engage stakeholders, analyse data, and support horizon scanning within a busy, transformation-focused team.

The role is hybrid (two days on-site in Wakefield) with a starting salary of £32,741 rising to £36,379 over three years, and a closing date of 15 September 2026.

NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a SP Controller to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.

In this role you will be required to manage an allocated group of suppliers in a professional, proactive, and commercially focused manner to ensure uninterrupted supply of goods across the NHS Supply Chain. This role is as an integral part of the day-to-day delivery of Business services, ensuring full compliance with service KPIs, policies and procedures of NHS Supply Chain are adhered to. Engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders across multiple communication platforms, ensuring clear and effective information exchange. Providing analysis of data and presenting in simple formats for tracking future supply chain of products and horizon scanning.

  • Maintain all inventory data related to the products and stakeholders.
  • Account management role overseeing hundreds of suppliers ensuring these are delivered on time in line with service KPIs and contractual obligations.
  • Build relationships with Suppliers utilising Supplier Relationship Management programme
  • Assist with stakeholder engagement by arranging actions, meetings, and supporting materials to promote understanding and commitment.Carry out prescribed stakeholder management activities by following existing procedures; provide support to others in building and optimising relationships and interactions with external and internal stakeholders to deliver resolution to complex queries causing operational difficulty.
  • Explore and develop a basic understanding of external developments or emerging issues.
  • Collecting and analysing data using established tools, methodologies, and reporting formats, reviewing reports, and updating information as required

  • Organisation & Operational Coordination
    Excellent planning and prioritisation skills to manage inventory records, aged orders, supplier fulfilment, onboarding activities, emergency deliveries, and multiple competing deadlines.
  • Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
    Ability to identify operational inefficiencies, investigate issues, implement improvements, adapt to industry changes, and contribute to process optimisation and compliance requirements.
