Job summary

NHS Supply Chain is seeking an SP Controller to join our Supply Chain Planning function. The role is hybrid with a Wakefield office presence, focusing on managing supplier performance and ensuring uninterrupted supply across the NHS Supply Chain.

You will engage with stakeholders, analyse data, maintain inventory records, and support service KPIs and contractual obligations with a view to continuous improvement and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Manage a large portfolio of suppliers and monitor performance against KPIs and contractual commitments.
  • Coordinate meetings and manage stakeholder expectations to gain commitment.
  • Collect, analyse and report on inventory and supplier performance data to support decisions.
  • Plan and prioritise to manage inventory records, onboarding, emergencies and deadlines.
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to comply with processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all inventory data related to the products and stakeholders.
  • Account management role overseeing hundreds of suppliers ensuring timely delivery per KPIs and contracts.
  • Build relationships with suppliers via Supplier Relationship Management programme.
  • Assist with stakeholder engagement by arranging actions, meetings and supporting materials to promote understanding and commitment.
  • Develop understanding of external developments or issues affecting supply chain.
  • Collect and analyse data using established tools and formats, updating information as required.

Job Title: SP Controller
Function: Supply Chain Planning
Location: Hybrid Worker – Expectation is two days per week on site at our Wakefield office
Contract type: Permanent
Salary: Offered on a starting salary of £32,741 with the potential to increase to £36,379 over the course of three years
Closing Date: Tuesday 15 th September 2026

NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a SP Controller to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.

In this role you will be required to manage an allocated group of suppliers in a professional, proactive, and commercially focused manner to ensure uninterrupted supply of goods across the NHS Supply Chain. This role is as an integral part of the day-to-day delivery of Business services, ensuring full compliance with service KPIs, policies and procedures of NHS Supply Chain are adhered to. Engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders across multiple communication platforms, ensuring clear and effective information exchange. Providing analysis of data and presenting in simple formats for tracking future supply chain of products and horizon scanning.

  • Maintain all inventory data related to the products and stakeholders.
  • Account management role overseeing hundreds of suppliers ensuring these are delivered on time in line with service KPIs and contractual obligations.
  • Build relationships with Suppliers utilising Supplier Relationship Management programme
  • Assist with stakeholder engagement by arranging actions, meetings, and supporting materials to promote understanding and commitment.Carry out prescribed stakeholder management activities by following existing procedures; provide support to others in building and optimising relationships and interactions with external and internal stakeholders to deliver resolution to complex queries causing operational difficulty.
  • Explore and develop a basic understanding of external developments or emerging issues.
  • Collecting and analysing data using established tools, methodologies, and reporting formats, reviewing reports, and updating information as required

    Excellent planning and prioritisation skills to manage inventory records, aged orders, supplier fulfilment, onboarding activities, emergency deliveries, and multiple competing deadlines.
  • Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
    Ability to identify operational inefficiencies, investigate issues, implement improvements, adapt to industry changes, and contribute to process optimisation and compliance requirements.
