Job summary

Compass Group PLC is seeking a Sous Chef for our staff dining operation in Exeter. You will work closely with the Head Chef to prepare quality meals, oversee kitchen activity and ensure high standards of food safety.

You will lead and train kitchen staff, manage menus, and monitor inventory and costs in a fast-paced catering environment. Culinary qualifications are preferred but not essential, and you will join a team dedicated to delivering nutritious, tasty dining experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience as Sous Chef or in a similar role in staff dining or high-volume catering.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.

Job description

As the Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure the smooth operation of our staff dining facilities. You will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, and assisting in menu development.,

• Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing daily menus that cater to a variety of dietary needs and preferences
• Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality
• Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations
• Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage kitchen costs effectively
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace
• Collaborate with the staff to gather feedback and continuously improve the dining experience
