Job summary

Gather & Gather in the Oxford area is seeking a Senior Sous Chef to support the Executive and Head Chef in a busy multi-concept kitchen. You will help deliver exceptional food and service in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll lead a team of 9 chefs, oversee menu development, stock control, and food safety, and coach colleagues to reach high standards while maintaining a positive, collaborative kitchen culture.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a kitchen team in a high-volume, multi-concept operation.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP and kitchen hygiene.
• Ability to plan menus, manage food costs and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Support the Executive Chef and Head Chef in daily kitchen operations.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of 9 chefs to deliver high-quality food and service.
• Own kitchen operations in absence of senior leaders; oversee multi-outlet outlets.
• Ensure consistent standards across concepts and service styles.
• Assist with menu planning, seasonal development, and maintaining innovative offerings.
• Uphold food safety, health & safety and company compliance.

Salary: £35,000 per annum

Shift Pattern: Predominantly Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Executive Chef and Head Chef in the day-to-day management of a busy kitchen operation.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of 9 chefs, ensuring high standards of food quality and service delivery.
• Take ownership of kitchen operations and lead the team confidently in the absence of the Executive Chef and Head Chef.
• Work across a varied and dynamic multi-outlet operation, delivering consistently high standards in each area.
• Produce exceptional food across multiple concepts, cuisines, and service styles.
• Assist with menu planning, seasonal food development, and maintaining an innovative food offer.
• Ensure all food safety, health & safety, and company compliance standards are met at all times.
• Monitor stock control, ordering, waste management, and food cost targets.
• Support recruitment, training, and succession planning within the kitchen team.
• Build a positive kitchen culture through strong leadership, organisation, and effective communication.
