Job summary

The Hawk Inn in Amport is seeking a passionate Sous Chef who thrives in a busy kitchen. You’ll work closely with the Head Chef to deliver delicious food, mentor junior chefs and keep routines running smoothly. Live-in accommodation is available and a clear pathway to Head Chef awaits.

Qualifications

• At least one year’s experience as a Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef.
• Strong cooking and presentation skills.
• The ability to lead, encourage and develop others.
• Great communication and a calm, practical approach to busy services.
• The right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Cook and present great food consistently, following our menus, recipes and standards.
• Lead confident, organised services and keep the team working together.
• Coach junior chefs, helping them develop their skills and take their next steps.
• Support rotas and organise daily kitchen responsibilities.
• Manage food ordering, stock control and storage, keeping quality high and waste low.
• Maintain excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and health and safety standards.
• Work closely with the wider pub team to give our guests a memorable experience.
