Job summary

Langdale Hotel & Spa in Ambleside is seeking a skilled Sous Chef to join the Stove Kitchen brigade, supporting high standards of quality and guest experience in a busy, high-volume kitchen.

You will help mentor junior chefs, manage kitchen operations, assist with menu development, and uphold hygiene and safety across services from breakfast to dinner, with on-site staff facilities and Langdale's luxury offering.

Qualifications

• Experience in busy, high-volume kitchens.
• Passion for high-quality, innovative dishes.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Knowledge of kitchen systems and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality dishes across all services (breakfast to dinner).
• Assist with staff training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Support menu preparation, inventory management, and cost control.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks within kitchen operations.
• Develop and propose seasonal menu ideas based on guest trends.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety, and kitchen organisation.
• Actively participate in day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Support and mentor junior chefs, promoting a collaborative team environment.
