Sous Chef

We're looking for a Sous Chef to join our client's relaxed yet ambitious kitchen, where your commitment and enthusiasm will be valued and rewarded.
About the Venue
Located in a picturesque riverside setting just outside Romsey, this well-established gastro pub is renowned for its inventive seasonal menus and warm, friendly atmosphere. The kitchen team is highly skilled, working collaboratively to deliver exceptional food using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
About the Role
As Sous Chef, you'll work closely alongside the Head Chef, supporting daily kitchen operations and stepping up to lead when needed. You'll be involved in:

  • Menu development and seasonal specials
  • Cost control and supplier management
  • Maintaining kitchen compliance and high food standards
  • Training and supporting junior team members
  • Helping to shape a positive kitchen culture

You'll have the chance to bring your ideas to life, with menus changing every 3-4 months and plenty of room for creativity and experimentation.
What We're Looking For

  • A reliable, enthusiastic team player
  • Experience with inventory management, cost control, and supplier relations
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage the kitchen efficiently and maintain high standards
  • Commitment to quality, teamwork, and a positive work environment
  • Because of the business location, a driving licence/own transport is preferred, but if you have a reliable lift, that's fine.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary: 32,000- 35,000, plus an equal share of tips (Tronc)
  • Full-time, 48 hours per week (typically over 4 / 4.5 days - initially 5 days to start)
