What’s involved?
This crucial role involves deputising in the Head Chef's absence, taking responsibility for all kitchen functions including food preparation, cooking, and ensuring consistent quality and presentation of all dishes.
The Sous Chef actively participates in menu development, costing, and inventory management, contributing to the efficiency and profitability of the kitchen.
Leading and motivating the kitchen brigade is a key aspect of this position, requiring the ability to train, supervise, and mentor junior chefs and kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
Maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and food safety practices in accordance with regulations is paramount.
The Sous Chef also plays a vital role in ensuring smooth and efficient service during busy periods, working closely with front-of-house staff to guarantee a seamless dining experience for guests.
Effective communication, organizational skills, and a passion for culinary excellence are essential for success in this demanding yet rewarding role.
