Job summary

Berenjak Mayfair is seeking a talented Sommelier to join our team. You will deliver exceptional guest experiences, recommend and sell wines, and support the Front of House team to ensure smooth service at our Mayfair location.

As part of the JKS Restaurants group, you will work with internationally sourced wines and contribute to our premium beverage strategy across a Bib Gourmand-awarded, growing restaurant group in the UK and beyond.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Sommelier within a quality restaurant.
• Fluent English language ability.
• Support the Wine Manager with wine cellar organisation, stock rotation and inventory accuracy.
• Ability to build rapport with guests through attentive service and knowledgeable recommendations.
• Experience with a selection of international wines.

Responsibilities

• Deliver highest levels of service and guest experience in the restaurant.
• Recommend and sell wines to guests to complement tastes and menu choices.
• Support Front of House team during service for smooth operations.
• Maintain wine cellar organisation and stock rotation.

We’re looking for a talentedSommelier to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitiousSommelier to play a key role in a dynamic & growing restaurant group with big plans ahead. You will be joining a driven and passionate team. Awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand across three locations, Berenjak is an exciting group of Persian restaurants with four locations in the UK (Mayfair, Soho, Borough Market and Soho Farmhouse) and eight internationally across the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the USA.

The Location

Berenjak Mayfair is the brand’s flagship new opening located at 80 Duke Street, a moment’s walk from Grosvenor Square in the heart of Mayfair. The design direction is inspired by Grandad’s villa in the North of Iran; a space that feels homey and relaxed but also elegant and mature whilst the service style focuses on genuine, warm hospitality and memorable guest experiences.

Guests can expect a mix of classic Berenjak classic Mazeh, Kababs and Khoresht with the addition of new elevated diverse regional Persian dishes. The beverage offering will draw a new focus to premium drinks options exclusively curated for the Duke Street location including new signature cocktails and an expanded wine selection.

The Position

As Sommelier, you will be responsible for delivering the highest levels of service and an exceptional guest experience within the restaurant. You will recommend and sell wines to guests both to complement their tastes and to pair with their menu choices, while also supporting the Front of House team throughout key parts of the service to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

The successful Sommelier will have:

• An engaging and personable nature with a professional and confident communication style
• A passion for hospitality and delivering an exceptional guest experience
• The ability to be responsible for the wine service and be an active part of the Front of House team
• A professional and confident communication style with fluent English language ability
• Contribute to increased beverage sales through knowledgeable recommendations and suggestive selling techniques
• Build rapport with guests through attentive, personalised hospitality and confident communication
• The ability to support the Wine Manager in maintaining wine cellar organisation, stock rotation, and inventory accuracy
• Prior experience as a Sommelier within a quality restaurant, working with a selection of international wines
• The ability to work collaboratively with Front of House and kitchen teams to ensure seamless guest experiences
• An excellent knowledge of food and beverage
• The eagerness to continually learn and develop your career within hospitality
• A good level of PC literacy (Microsoft Office)
