Cartisian Recruitment is recruiting a Solution Design Manager for a global leader in material handling and automation. The role is fully remote with travel across the UK & Ireland, offering £70,000-£75,000 plus Bonus and a Company Car. You will lead the technical solution design and pre-sales, developing customer-specific automation concepts (AGV, AMR and intralogistics) and validating ROI, costs and risks with Sales, Engineering and Project teams.

Solution Design Manager - Automated Material Handling

£70,000 - £75,000 + Bonus + Company Car | Remote / Home-Based | UK & Ireland

We are recruiting a Solution Design Manager for a global leader in material handling and intralogistics, specialising in innovative automation solutions for complex warehouse and distribution operations.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded organisation at the front end of the project lifecycle, taking ownership of technical solution design and pre-sales activities across the UK and Ireland.

Working closely with Sales, Engineering and project stakeholders, you will develop tailored automation concepts that meet customer requirements, improve operational efficiency and deliver commercially viable solutions.

The role is fully remote and home-based, with travel across the UK and Ireland as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical solution design and pre-sales process for automated material handling projects.
• Develop customer-specific automation concepts, including AGV, AMR and wider intralogistics solutions.
• Analyse customer operations, workflows and material flows to identify automation and optimisation opportunities.
• Support 3D simulations, process analysis and the development of end-to-end technical solutions.
• Work closely with Sales teams to develop technical proposals and customer presentations.
• Review project scope, technical requirements, costs, risks and commercial opportunities.
• Assess CAPEX requirements, ROI and business cases to demonstrate the value of proposed solutions.
• Contribute to Bid/No-Bid decisions, ensuring opportunities are technically feasible and commercially attractive.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management and Commercial teams to align solutions with customer expectations.
