Job summary

Interaction Engineering is seeking an experienced SolidWorks Design Engineer to join our team. You will produce accurate 3D models, engineering drawings and manufacturing information for roofing and metalwork projects, collaborating with production and installation teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.

The role requires strong CAD skills, attention to detail and the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

• Proven experience using SolidWorks in a design or engineering role.
• Strong knowledge of 3D modelling and 2D technical drawing.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience producing detailed drawings for manufacture or fabrication.
• Good understanding of engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
• Good communication and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Produce 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
• Develop designs for roofing components and related products.
• Prepare manufacturing drawings, fabrication details and cutting lists.
• Interpret architectural drawings, technical specifications and customer requirements.
• Ensure designs are accurate and suitable for production and installation.
• Liaise with production, project management, suppliers and installation teams.
• Make design amendments based on project feedback.
• Support design development and continuous improvement.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated SolidWorks Design Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded engineer with strong 3D CAD design skills and an understanding of roofing systems, sheet metal fabrication or architectural metalwork.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate 3D models, engineering drawings and manufacturing information, working closely with production and installation teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and suitable for manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks.

• Develop designs for roofing components, metalwork, brackets, flashings and associated products.

• Prepare manufacturing drawings, fabrication details and cutting lists.

• Interpret architectural drawings, technical specifications and customer requirements.

• Ensure designs are accurate, practical and suitable for production and installation.

• Liaise with production, project management, suppliers and installation teams.

• Make design amendments in line with project requirements and feedback.

• Support design development, problem-solving and continuous improvement.

• Maintain accurate CAD files, drawing revisions and technical documentation.

• Ensure designs comply with relevant technical requirements and company standards.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience using SolidWorks in a design or engineering role.

• Strong knowledge of 3D modelling and 2D technical drawing.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Desirable Experience

• Background in roofing, cladding or building envelope systems.

• Experience with sheet metal design, fabrication or architectural metalwork.

• Knowledge of metal folding, cutting, fabrication and assembly processes.

• Experience working with steel, aluminium or other roofing materials.

• Familiarity with construction drawings and site installation requirements.
