Job summary

Theo James Recruitment Ltd is seeking a CAD Design Engineer in Hartlepool to join a manufacturing team. You will produce detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks for bespoke sheet metal and architectural projects.

The role calls for strong SolidWorks proficiency, experience with sheet metal components, and the ability to ensure designs are practical for fabrication in a busy environment. Hybrid working may be possible for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks essential; sheet metal functionality preferred.
• Experience designing sheet metal components and architectural metalwork.
• Ideally 5+ years in a CAD Design Engineer role, with 3–4 years considered for suitable candidates.
• Ability to produce accurate 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Producing detailed 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Designing sheet metal components, fabricated assemblies and architectural metalwork.
• Supporting projects involving facades, rainscreen systems and bespoke metal products.
• Creating accurate drawings and technical documentation for manufacturing.
• Working closely with production and fabrication teams to ensure designs can be manufactured efficiently.
• Supporting design changes, modifications and continuous improvements.
• Contributing to projects involving security fencing, gates and metal enclosures where required.

Theo James Recruitment is proud to be supporting an established North East manufacturing business specialising in engineered metal products and solutions for the architectural, construction and industrial sectors.

With a strong reputation for delivering bespoke metalwork solutions, the business works on a variety of projects including architectural facades, rainscreen systems, security fencing and specialist metal fabrications.

They are now looking to recruit an experienced CAD Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks proficiency to join their engineering team. Job Description

As a CAD Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks for a range of bespoke sheet metal and architectural projects.

The successful CAD Design Engineer will work closely with the wider engineering and fabrication teams to ensure designs are practical, accurate and suitable for manufacture.

Skills & Experience

• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks is essential, ideally with experience using its sheet metal functionality.
• Previous experience designing sheet metal components, fabricated products or architectural metalwork.
• Ideally 5+ years' experience in a CAD Design Engineer or similar design role, although candidates with 3–4 years' relevant experience will be considered.
• Ability to produce accurate 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks.
• Good understanding of fabrication processes and design for manufacture.
• Experience within architectural facades, rainscreen cladding or construction-related metalwork would be highly desirable.
• Experience designing fencing, gates or security enclosures would be advantageous.
• A practical, hands-on approach with strong communication skills and the ability to work within a busy manufacturing environment.
