Role Overview:

We’re looking for a UK qualified lawyer with experience orstrong interest in insurance law and claims handling. This rolesupports the CERT team with reviewing insurance policies, assistingwith claims assessments, and contributing to breach response efforts.Ideal for someone with early in-house or private practice experiencewho’s ready to grow into a broader commercial legal role.

Thisrole will provide review, assessment, advise and expertise in themanagement of the claims process to support CyberClan’s delivery ofIncident Response projects, including analysis of claims and providingrecommendation for resolution of those claims.

We are seekingan experienced claims professional to join our team and lend a hand inhandling intricate primary and excess Cyber, Tech, and Media policiesand future Executive Risks as well as Management ProfessionalLiability. You will also manage/collaborate with a variety of vendors,including breach counsel, defense counsel, and coverage counsel forits partner carriers.

This role will also support breachresponse efforts, helping to manage the immediate impact of a securityincident with timely, practical advice. The role involves closecoordination with IT, legal, and other internal teams to ensure aswift and organized response

Responsibilities of Role:

  • Handle the intake of severe cyber events,including the coordination with breach counsel, forensicinvestigators, and other vendors
  • Evaluate full pending ofclaims and recommend accurate reserves
  • Manage litigationincluding third party liability arising from security failure or databreaches, Media and Tech E&O
  • Maintain accurate and timelyfile documentation/information in our claims system
  • Assessliability and damage data in affiliation with intricate claims,maintaining appropriate documentation
  • Assess insurancecoverage issues
  • Intelligently guide and track third-partyvendors and service providers
  • Maintain and developrelationships with brokers, risk managers, general counsel, andvendors
  • Identify settlement opportunities to maximize impactand preserve limits
  • Collaborate in the defense and resolutionof claims
  • Provide data and reason-based informationalassistance to underwriters
  • Provide assistance to businessdevelopment team with regard to marketing
  • Liaise withcarriers on a daily basis
  • Serve as a member of a 24x7/365service delivery team that handles incident response, post
  • breach remediation and escalation
  • Liaise withexternal legal advisers and insurers as required, particularly duringcomplex or high-value matters.
  • Support contract negotiationsby reviewing and advising on insurance and liability clauses.
  • Research legal and regulatory developments related toinsurance, data protection, money services business, newjurisdictions, legal risks, summarize findings for internal use.
  • Draft and review standard contract clauses related toinsurance and liability
  • Maintain all legal records and ensuredocumentation is accurate and accessible.
  • Monitor legal andregulatory developments in insurance, data protection, and risk tokeep stakeholders informed.
  • Support breach response andcrisis management efforts by providing timely, practical legal inputduring security incidents.
  • Assist in planning and deliveringbreach simulations and table-top exercises alongside internal teams.
  • Collaborate with marketing and business development teams onexternal-facing initiatives, including client briefings, thoughtleadership, and industry events.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements/Must Haves:

  • UK-qualified solicitor with 2+ post-qualificationexperience in insurance law (either in-house or in private practice).
  • Proven experience advising on insurance claims and policycoverage.
  • Working knowledge of the UK’s data protection laws,cyber insurance, and breach response practices.
  • Ability tomake sound legal judgments independently and communicate them clearlyto non-legal stakeholders.
  • Strongcoverage background
  • Demonstrated experience working as partof a team, leading a team, interacting with others, meeting goals, andsuccessfully performing in a changing work environment
  • Excellent communication skills, interactive experience, andproactive mindset
  • Team-oriented with an aptitude to excel ina collegial environment

Asset/Nice-to-Have:

  • Previous in-houseexperience within a regulated sector.
  • Experience acting as orworking alongside breach coaches during cyber incidents.
  • Familiarity with cross-border insurance or multinationalpolicy frameworks.
