This is a Top 20 firm with a Legal 500 Tier 1 ranked Employment team and a strong reputation across the UK market. The Birmingham team is known for advising on complex and sensitive issues for clients across the public and private sectors, covering contentious, advisory and transactional work, including employment pensions and support for finance sector clients.
Despite the scale of the wider firm, the culture is friendly, supportive and collaborative, with a strong focus on development and knowledge sharing. The team is busy, with a strong pipeline of work, and junior lawyers are given real responsibility and exposure to high-quality matters from an early stage.
You will join a well established Employment team in Birmingham on a varied, sophisticated and highly commercial caseload, with a focus on litigation alongside a strong advisory practice. The team’s current workload spans the full range of contentious and advisory work, and they are keen to hear from lawyers from either background who are comfortable moving between the two.
The contentious work covers everything from bulk tribunal claims through to complex multi day hearings for large employers, alongside discrimination matters, high profile investigations and the management of sensitive disputes.
On the advisory side you will work on risk advisory matters, helping clients manage employment risk before it becomes a dispute, and on transactional work including employment pensions, business sales, acquisitions and restructures.
You will also support finance sector clients, giving you real breadth rather than being kept to a single specialism. You will work closely with clients to understand their objectives and provide clear, practical advice that supports the wider business, with strong training and flexible working to support your development.
