Job summary

HF in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds or Birmingham seeks a Solicitor – Personal Injury to join the RTA litigation team on a permanent, hybrid basis. We welcome newly qualified solicitors and those with experience, to manage a small caseload while also mentoring junior colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage a small caseload of litigated RTA liability files from instruction to resolution.
• Support team leadership and foster a positive, productive environment.
• Provide day-to-day supervision to litigation executives and ensure high-quality delivery.
• Deliver training and mentoring to legal apprentices and junior team members.
• Assist in delivering operational performance metrics including revenue targets and timely billing.
• Contribute to effective service delivery for allocated clients with consistent response times and SLA compliance.
• Participate in quality control including case sampling and audits to maintain high standards.
• Engage with clients, insurers, and third parties to maintain strong relationships.

We are looking for a newly qualified solicitor to join our RTA litigation team in a role that offers a strong balance of hands‑on legal work and early leadership experience.

This position is ideal for someone who is ready to take ownership of a small caseload of litigated RTA liability matters while also contributing to the supervision and development of junior colleagues.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage a small caseload of litigated RTA liability files, progressing matters from instruction through to resolution.


• Support the leadership of the team by contributing to a positive, productive working environment and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.


• Provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to litigation executives, ensuring high-quality technical performance and compliance with supervision procedures.


• Deliver training and mentoring to legal apprentices and junior team members, helping to build capability and confidence across the team.


• Assist in the delivery of operational performance metrics, including revenue targets and timely billing.


• Contribute to the effective service delivery for allocated clients, supporting consistent response times, escalation processes, and SLA compliance.


• Participate in quality control processes, including case sampling and audit activity, to maintain high standards of file handling.


• Engage with clients, insurers, and third parties professionally to maintain strong working relationships and deliver excellent service.


• Support wider operational initiatives, including training, IT changes, and HR processes, as required.

What do I need?

• Qualified solicitor with a genuine interest in RTA litigation.


• We welcome applications from NQ solicitors through to experienced solicitors.


• Strong understanding of liability issues in road traffic accident claims.


• Previous management or coaching experience within a legal services environment is essential


• Previous experience managing a litigated caseload to be able to guide and advise members of your team of best practice


• Previous experience of attending court


• The ability to display a pleasant, but assertive manner in dealing with colleagues and clients


• Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft packages


• An excellent eye for detail with a concern for quality and accuracy


• A focused client service approach is essential


• Team oriented and collaborative with a flexible, can do attitude


• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing


• Demonstrable ability to multitask and prioritise a full workload under pressure and the ability to work independently
