Job summary

Astute's Renewables Team in the United Kingdom is seeking a Solar Field Service Engineer to join the growing operations and maintenance team across Nottinghamshire and surrounding areas. The role focuses on optimizing plant performance and maintaining equipment availability.

The position offers a salary up to £42,000 per year, on-call enhanced pay (1 weekend in 5), a company van and fuel card, private health insurance, and 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial or utility scale solar is preferred.
• City and Guilds NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 18th edition wiring regulations are required.
• High Voltage Authorisation would be advantageous but not essential.
• Full UK driving licence is essential due to remote sites.

Responsibilities

• Take primary responsibility for solar plant performance and site optimisation, maintaining equipment availability.
• Perform pre-planned and reactive maintenance across solar farms, including electrical maintenance and solar panel cleaning.
• HV maintenance if HV qualified, liaising with LV/HV personnel and external subcontractors as needed.
• Compile reports of completed works and communicate issues to line manager.
• Mentor and train junior technicians where required; participate in on-call rota (1 weekend in 5).
