Astute is seeking a Solar Technician to cover sites in Yeovil. The role offers £35,000–£45,000, a company van, private healthcare, life insurance, and progression opportunities.

You will maintain and inspect ground-mounted solar assets, troubleshoot electrical systems, and report on site activities while complying with HSE and company procedures. Travel and weekend rota may apply.

Competenze

• Previous utility-scale solar experience preferred.
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
• Knowledge of SCADA/CCTV and solar technologies.

Mansioni

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across solar assets.
• Test and inspect electrical systems, identify faults and repair where possible.
• Liaise with suppliers to troubleshoot site issues.
• Complete daily site reports and records of work.
• Perform fault finding on AC and DC systems.
• Ensure work complies with HSE and company procedures.
• Supervise third‑party contractors on site when required.

Astute's Renewables Team is partnering with a global renewable energy services provider specialising in the delivery of engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance solutions for utility-scale renewable energy projects, to recruit a Solar Technician for sites in Yeovil.

The strategically important Solar Technician role comes with a salary of £35,000 - £45,000, company van, private healthcare, life insurance, and excellent training and progression opportunities.

Responsibilities and duties of the Solar Technician role

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of ground-mounted solar assets.
• Test and inspect electrical systems, identifying faults and carrying out repairs where possible.
• Liaise with specialist equipment suppliers to troubleshoot technical issues on site.
• Complete daily reports detailing work carried out and site activities.
• Perform fault finding on both AC and DC systems.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with current HSE legislation and company procedures.
• Supervise third-party contractors on site when required.
• Participate in an occasional weekend call-out rota, with additional payment.
• Undertake occasional travel and overnight stays as required.

Professional qualifications

• Previous experience working on utility-scale solar projects.
• Level 3 electrical qualification.
• ECS card is desirable
• 2391 Test & Inspection qualification is desirable.
• HV Authorised Person (AP) status is desirable.
• Good working knowledge of industry-standard testing equipment and electrical instruments.

Personal skills

• Dynamic with strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
• Knowledgeable about SCADA, CCTV systems, and solar technologies.
• Flexible and willing to travel to sites as required.
