Role Description

The Solar Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the City of Bristol. This position is responsible for designing, specifying, and overseeing the installation of solar PV systems, ensuring that projects meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day tasks include conducting site assessments, producing electrical and PV system designs, preparing technical documentation, and collaborating with installation teams to resolve design or engineering issues. The Solar Engineer will also review system performance data, support troubleshooting and maintenance activities, and provide technical input to improve system efficiency and reliability. The role involves close coordination with project managers, electricians, and clients to deliver high-quality, compliant renewable installations.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of the solar industry and solar power technologies, including current standards and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with solar systems, including PV design and system configuration for residential and commercial projects.
• Proficiency in electrical design, including single-line diagrams, cable sizing, protection devices, and grid connection requirements.
• Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and accreditation frameworks (e.g., MCS, PAS 2030, HIES) and safe working practices.
• Ability to use design and simulation software for PV systems and basic CAD tools to produce clear technical drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in technical calculations.
