Job Title: Software Team Leader

Salary: up to £55,800 per annum dependent on experience

Location: Cowes, Isle of Wight

We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Software Team Leader. The role will be based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight with potential for hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

They work at the cutting edge of technology, creating over 100 new inventions annually for customers in more than 100 countries.

You will be part of the naval radar software team, contributing to the software group working on the MFR radar and other naval radars including Sampson, Artisan, 994, LRR, and AWS10. Your responsibilities will include maintaining existing systems and developing new capabilities for these radars installed on multiple Navy platforms.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Leading a team of software developers, ensuring timely delivery of projects.
  2. Planning, scheduling, and reviewing work, along with estimation and progress reporting.
  3. Generating and managing requirements, designing technical solutions, software development, and testing.
  4. Conducting peer reviews and defining tests.
  5. Adhering to project processes and software development standards.
  6. Supporting system testing and integration activities.
  7. Producing technical documentation.
  8. Liaising with multiple stakeholders.

About You:
  • Degree qualification in computer science, software engineering, or relevant experience.
  • Experience with the software development lifecycle, tools (e.g., UML, IDEs).
  • Proficiency in Ada, C, or C++ with real-time software experience.
  • Object-oriented design/development skills, including UML, SysML, or XML.
  • Experience in project planning and reporting.

You must be eligible for SC clearance, holding a British passport and having lived and worked in the UK for the past five years.
