Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy rail operator recognized for innovation in a senior leadership role. You will be responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining IT tools for Engineering users and managing a team of internal software developers. The role involves driving innovation through developing cutting-edge software tools to support engineering departments.

Responsibilities include managing software development lifecycle, leading departmental strategy, overseeing the team’s activity, and ensuring the application of various programming languages and systems. You should have hands-on experience in software development, capable of writing high-quality code, and leading a team of developers.

You will coordinate technical specifications, allocate resources, streamline processes, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop solutions that benefit the business. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining and developing engineering-specific IT systems.

Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

• Degree in business, computer science, engineering, information systems, or IT.
• Proven hands-on experience in software development, preferably in PHP, Laravel, MySQL, REST, and SOAP web services.
• Strong understanding of programming languages, web development (PHP, HTML, CSS), and frameworks.
• Experience with SQL databases, Linux OS, container deployment, data management, analytics, and automation.
• Leadership experience in software development teams.
• Knowledge of Project Management frameworks (Agile/Scrum/Waterfall).
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
