Job summary

Yorkshire Building Society in Bradford is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the Technology Services team, focusing on Savings and Payments infrastructure. The role offers hybrid work with some onsite presence in Bradford, usually once a week, and participation in an on-call support rota.

You will develop, test, and maintain software, collaborate with architects and product owners, and work within an Agile delivery environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of core technologies used in YBS Savings and Finance landscape: Cobol, Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Perforce.
• Experience with Oracle Forms and modern DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and test software and configuration.
• Diagnose and resolve live defects/incidents in systems.
• Participate in peer reviews of code and tests.
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, and product owners on technical change.
• Follow Agile delivery methodologies.
• Provide on-call support after hours to ensure resilience.
• Estimate impact of requirements and designs.
