GitHub Copilot Agent Services manages the platform that enhances Copilot's capabilities with AI agents within a rich ecosystem of developer tools and services. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will collaborate with a diverse, distributed team of engineers and product managers across GitHub and Microsoft to improve and maintain our platform, which is integral to developers' workflows.

The team operates remotely with an emphasis on asynchronous communication, requiring strong written communication skills and the ability to build relationships globally. At GitHub, you will work on challenging problems that impact how software is built worldwide.

Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable technical solutions across multiple GitHub services.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement innovative solutions.
3. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code reviews to foster team growth.
4. Maintain system health and participate in on-call rotations.
5. Create architecture briefs, prototypes, and experiments to achieve planetary-scale systems.
6. Design and implement APIs for seamless component integration.
7. Plan for system availability and scalability, considering server health.
8. Monitor service health and develop data-driven scalability strategies and rollback plans.
9. Set up automated CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and delivery.
10. Write maintainable and well-understood code, becoming familiar with your systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• 4+ years in Software Engineering or related fields with experience in languages like C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• OR an Associate’s Degree with 3+ years of experience.
• OR a Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• OR a Master’s Degree in a related discipline.
• 1+ years of professional experience in Golang.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience coding in Go, JavaScript, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• Interest or experience in AI, machine learning, or Large Language Models.
• Experience with distributed systems at a global scale.
• Experience working remotely with distributed teams.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Passion for API design practices.
