Kent Fire and Rescue Service is seeking an IT Development professional to join the team at our Service Headquarters in Maidstone. The role focuses on Microsoft technologies—Windows, SQL Server and .NET—while offering opportunities to work with web-based and emerging technologies as part of our digital transformation.

You will contribute to delivering high-quality software solutions in an Agile environment, with CI/CD, automated testing and strong emphasis on design, documentation and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Develop, enhance and maintain in-house software applications and integrations.
• Analyse complex challenges and deliver scalable, well-designed solutions.
• Translate requirements into maintainable code using .NET and web tech.
• Produce technical and non-technical documentation for varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance and maintain a diverse portfolio of in-house software applications, services and system integrations, supporting both existing business-critical solutions and the delivery of new development projects.
• Analyse complex technical challenges, breaking down problems into manageable components and delivering effective, scalable solutions that demonstrate strong software design principles, coding standards and industry best practice.
• Translate business requirements and technical specifications into high-quality, maintainable code, using a range of modern programming languages, scripting tools and technologies.
• Produce clear and accurate technical and non-technical documentation, ensuring information is tailored appropriately for a variety of audiences, including developers, support teams, stakeholders and end users.
