Kent Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a Software Developer (Grade 7) for an 18-month fixed-term contract based at Service Headquarters, Maidstone. Hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

The role focuses on the Microsoft stack (Windows, SQL Server, .NET) and offers exciting digital transformation work across KFRS. The successful candidate will join the IT Development team, developing and supporting in-house software, collaborating in Agile practices, and delivering

Qualifications

• Software Engineering HND or equivalent.
• Proficiency in C# and knowledge of at least two other languages (e.g., JSON, XML).
• Good software engineering methods and best practices.
• Strong communication skills, ability to work autonomously.
• Interest in emerging technologies, including AI.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance and maintain in-house software applications and integrations.
• Analyse complex technical challenges and deliver scalable solutions.
• Translate requirements into high-quality, maintainable code using .NET, web frameworks and databases.
• Produce technical and user-focused documentation.
• Collaborate with the development team and participate in Agile ceremonies.
