Job summary

BP plc is hiring a Software Engineer in a hybrid role based around Sunbury/London. You will contribute to building, deploying, and operating software that powers bp's global operations, collaborating with multiple engineering teams and product managers.

The role emphasizes secure coding, CI/CD, and relational data modeling. You should have hands-on experience with modern languages (Java/C#/Python/Go/JS), containerized development, and a strong foundation in Agile methods.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering production systems with technical ownership.
• Strong understanding of Agile development and modern software practices.
• Collaborative mindset with clear communication across teams.
• Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines and build/release automation.
• Practical experience with relational databases and data modeling.
• Proficiency in at least one high-level language (Java, C#, Python, Go, JS/TS).
• Familiarity with containerized development and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of secure development and monitoring for live services.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and implementation of scalable, secure software.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver features.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Build, test, and deploy cloud-based applications within bp’s stack.
• Participate in system design discussions and trade-off analyses.
• Ensure proper logging, monitoring, and reliability of live services.
