Abselion is a life science tools company headquartered in Cambridge, UK, working on the next generation of analytical technologies. We have developed a benchtop analytical instrument, called Amperia, which uses proprietary Redox Electrochemical Detection (RED) technology to quantify proteins and viral vectors directly from crude samples in minutes, without purification, and without specialist training.
We work with teams across protein expression, process development and in academia, biotech and pharma across the globe who are tired of waiting days for analytical results that should take minutes.
We are a team who care deeply about the science, move quickly, and believe that the best outcomes come from genuinely understanding and helping customers solve real problems.
At Abselion we are looking for a Software Engineer to contribute to the development of the software powering our Amperia analytical instrument, with a strong focus on machine control and hardware integration.
You will work across the software stack, with particular emphasis on controlling and interfacing with instrumentation, firmware, and experimental workflows. Frontend and UI work is part of the role but not the primary focus.
You will collaborate closely with lab scientists, electronics engineers, and mechanical engineers to translate experimental and hardware requirements into reliable, maintainable software. This includes working on real-time control, device communication, and ensuring robust operation of the system.
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working close to physical systems and hardware, and contributing to complex, evolving products in a multidisciplinary environment.
