The Beauty and Fashion team's mission is to improve customer experiences for these category items and personalize the recommendations. We build mobile-first features. Every page on the shopping funnel has the opportunity for recommendations that are driven with algorithms aided by regional and logistics driven algorithms and strategies. It is a great opportunity to innovate with billions of records of data for the customers. We use data mining and usability data to develop new features and test them through hundreds of A/B experiments a year. This immense amount of data challenges us to create highly scalable and low latency solutions across a wide variety of categories, including apparel, shoes, watches, luggage, and jewelry.
As a Software Development Manager, you will lead and define the technical direction, build an exceptional team, and drive operational excellence. As SDM, you will lead a highly talented team of engineers and interface with product managers, program managers, designers, and work across both customer-facing products and core infrastructure. Your team will architect and develop customer touchpoints across Search, DP, and Recommendations, primarily focused on India-specific needs for Softline customers.
Candidates should have the technical depth to guide the design and implementation of complex distributed systems that run at Amazon scale, while also possessing the leadership skills to grow and mentor engineers. They excel at working with small, focused teams, take ownership of their product, and lead by example. The ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, from engineers to executives, and comfort in pitching new ideas that drive business value are essential. In this role, you'll have the unique opportunity to directly influence Amazon's bottom line while building a high-performing engineering team from the ground up.
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.
